ABOUTJulie focuses her career on the trial of complex personal injury matters. Raised in Auburn, New York, Julie was drawn to representing injured individuals and families after witnessing students and teachers in her local middle school lose their health, enjoyment of life and livelihoods due to exposure to unsafe working and schooling conditions and toxic molds. When one of her own family members was permanently disabled, she saw first-hand the devastation injuries can bring. Fast forward several years and a law school degree, and Julie represented those students and created law setting the legal standard in New York for proving injuries were caused by exposure to toxic molds and repeated water incursions.
Julie graduated from the University of Rochester with a dual degree in Political Science and Health and Society with honors and with additional course work in Brain and Cognitive Science. She went on to earn her law degree at Syracuse University College of Law, cum laude. At Syracuse, she was a member of the National Trial Team and an associate editor with both the national Labor Lawyer journal and the International Journal of Law and Commerce. She was a Director of the Moot Court Honor Society and admitted to the Order of Barristers upon graduation. She was chosen as one of only a few hundred law students across the county to be a law student advocate with the American Trial Lawyers Association (now AAJ).
Julie began her career in the litigation department of a large well-respected Rochester law firm of over 100 attorneys. There she represented both plaintiffs and small to medium sized businesses involved in complex litigation in state and federal courts. Julie also worked as Counsel in a pre- eminent Rochester plaintiffs' firm for several years focusing her practice on medical malpractice and heading that firm's nursing home neglect and abuse practice.
Her love for trial work is your best weapon. Julie has been chosen time and again as a leading trial attorney. She was selected by her peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America publication for Medical Malpractice-Plaintiffs and Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiffs. Julie received recognition as a Top 40 Under 40 Trial Lawyer- Civil Plaintiffs in New York by the National Trial Lawyers. She has been listed by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Plaintiffs’ Medical Malpractice every year since 2018. Julie was recognized as one of the recipients of the Top Women in Law Award in 2015 by the Rochester Daily Record and was highlighted as a Woman to Watch (2016) by the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
She currently serves as the Chair of the Board for the Mental Health Association of Monroe County and is a Director-At-Large on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Academy.
She has lectured extensively throughout New York State on topics including Medical Malpractice, Nursing Home Neglect and Abuse, Use of Supplemental Needs Trusts in Personal Injury Actions, and Products Liability. Lawyers, as well as other licensed professionals, rely on Julie's presentations. She most recently presented at the annual summer meeting of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers on the use of expert accident reconstructionist testimony at trials of motor vehicle accident cases.
Julie is a fierce, but compassionate advocate. She is a wife, a mother and the daughter of someone who suffered a personal injury resulting in permanent disability, loss of income and loss of enjoyment of life. You want someone who has tried cases and who has walked in your shoes.
Julie enjoys spending quality time with her husband, who is also an experienced trial attorney, and their two children. After passing on an undergraduate career in opera performance, she now takes time out to play the flute and cello and still can be heard singing opera from time to time. When she is not working on your case, you can listen to her every Saturday and Sunday at 3pm on WYSL 92.1 FM/1040AM as she hosts the weekly legal radio show, Off the Record.
